Televisor 32 pulgadas8/19/2023 This is insane!" It's true that if you want to take full advantage of higher resolutions, that's the ideal size you should get. You're probably thinking something along the lines of "My couch is 10' away from my TV, which according to the chart means I need a 75 inch TV. See our recommendations for the best 4k TVs. Knowing the optimal viewing distance for the resolution can help you determine a living room setup that takes full advantage of your TV's resolution, but since angular resolution is almost a non-issue with UHD content, we recommend using our calculator tool at the top of the page, which is based on the optimal field of vision. Really, though, this chart is just a guide, and as 4k TVs have become the standard, the question of whether it's worth it or not is a moot point. While your eyes may not be able to tell the difference at a certain point, your next TV will more than likely be a 4k TV anyway. The chart suggests that at a certain point, 4k UHD may not be worth the upgrade-if you're sitting more than 7 feet away and have a 55" TV, for instance. Go too far, and the image will look identical to 1080p HD. However, any distance between 4 and about 8.5 feet will be enough to appreciate the difference between 4k and 1080p on a 65 inch TV. So, for example, if you have a 65 inch TV, the viewing distance at which the eye can actually process the details of 4k content is about 4 feet. Each line represents the optimal viewing distance for each resolution, but any TV that falls within the range of that color will be suitable to notice a difference in picture quality. This chart shows the point at which an upgrade in resolution becomes worth it depending on size and distance to the TV. Learn more about the difference between 4k and 8k.Īll that said, everyone's eyesight is a little different, and most TVs now are at least capable of 4k, so visual acuity isn't really the best way to find the right distance. It should instead be used to figure out the closest you can sit to a TV without hitting its resolution limitation. Because the pixels are more densely packed with an 8k resolution, you need to sit closer to actually resolve those details. For that reason-content aside-8k only really makes sense if you want a really big screen and plan on sitting close to it. However, this also decreases the point at which the perceived difference in picture quality becomes noticeable. With 8k TVs, that density increases further, making it even harder to notice flaws with the resolution unless you're sitting extremely close. You need to be quite close to a fairly large TV for the pixels to be noticeably distracting. Since 4k TVs have such a large density of pixels, it's much more difficult for this issue to arise. So, if you sit too far, your eyes won't be able to resolve the image, but if you sit too close, that image will appear pixelated. For lower resolutions, you have to sit a bit further than preferable to not notice the pixels, while 4k resolutions and higher give you more freedom.įor instance, sitting close to a 1080p TV can look almost like watching through a screen door because you can see the individual pixels, even if it's playing a high-quality 1080p HD movie. Increasing your distance to the TV also increases the density of details, producing a better image. At a certain distance, depending on your eyesight, your eyes won't be able to distinguish every detail. Our ability to resolve details is determined not only by visual acuity but also by distance. The closer you are, the lower your perceived pixel density will beĪngular resolution is the point at which the eye can 'resolve' or distinguish individual details in an image. Experts suggest that someone with 20/20 vision (or 6/6 using the metric system) can distinguish details that are 1/60th of a degree apart. Surviving mars build order8/19/2023 As you progress, drones can take on more, leaving you to handle larger-scale plans for the settlement. At times, Surviving Mars may underemphasize some key parts-namely just how important supply chain management is-but it's delightful and elegant, tasking you with just enough management and planning to keep your role engaging. How you do so, again, comes down to which consequences you want to take on, and how long you can keep paying those costs-at least, at the most basic level. But you'll often have plenty of time to fix them, and a series of warnings that encourage you to change course. Sure, the in-game consequences of failure are.a little extreme (like watching your colonists suffocate, should you fail to keep oxygen flowing). What helps here is that Surviving Mars may be delicate, but it isn't punishing. And that means that at some point, you either fail to meet a condition and the system starts falling apart, or you keep going and surviving. Each of those choices, too, have consequences, though. Even if you can't get what you need from a Martian mine just yet, you can order it from Earth. Every choice matters, but none rule your destiny. The brilliance here is that all of these systems work and are responsive to how you play. If you have X building, every so often you'll need Y resource to maintain it, and that resource comes from Z building, and so on. Your colony, at its most basic level, is governed by a set of rules. Instead of locking you into a given play style, the emphasis is on consequences and teaching you how to manage them. Those decisions might feel like setting up a trap down the line, but Surviving Mars' other stroke of genius is how permissive it can be. Because your colony's development is connected to these choices, it also creates a powerful emergent narrative throughout, not unlike ones found in The Sims, for instance. Your structures are always degrading, and help of any sort is often months away-meaning that you either have strong supply lines for the necessary materials, or you're prepared to work around the long delays in resupply missions from Earth. As you progress, you're always fighting the exaggerated elements and forces of nature. Surviving Mars gets a lot of narrative mileage from this. Each choice is a commitment, a statement of how you think it best to run humanity's excursion to the new frontier. The brilliance of Surviving Mars, then, is in forcing you to think systemically. The extractor's cousin, the vaporator, is a more environmentally friendly option.but at the cost of comparably low output, and requiring broad spacing between structures to be effective. Whether it's by extracting from rock, or sucking what little can be from the scant Martian atmosphere, even something as basic as how you obtain water influences countless other decisions down the line.Ĭhoose the extractor, and then you need to design your outpost around the fact that it'll kick up far more corrosive dust into the air (among a half-dozen other considerations). Ground down by the perpetual dust storms, punishing cold, and meteor strikes, nothing lasts and everything comes with a cost. You have a bevy of options for obtaining vital resources-with each creating a slightly different relationship between your settlement and the planet. They help you probe the surface of Mars and get your basics going. Your first forays on the planet are drone-based RC rovers and semi-autonomous bots are your essential tools. But your progress is constantly evaluated by your sponsor country or organization, offering some very loose targets like "get colonists" and "keep them alive for a while." Beyond that, the direction is yours. Insofar as many simulators allow a degree of role-playing, your time on Mars is yours to do with how you will. From there, you choose how to guide your Martian colony. You can take the reigns of an international consortium, a major private enterprise, or any number of real-world space-capable nations here on Earth. Space is hard, and Mars isn't any more forgiving your goal is to command a mission that can endure the punishing conditions of the Red Planet. If that is the measure by which we are to judge city simulators, nowhere is that more beautifully or essentially or thematically distilled than in Surviving Mars. Your success, then, depends on how artfully and effectively you've crafted your settlement. You have essential buildings that supply resources, which are then distributed in a grand pattern etched by your design. It's been said that city simulators are best thought of as a series of stocks and flows. Endless ocean wiki sea serpent8/19/2023 This motif recalls the story of the Buddha and the serpent king Mucalinda: as the Buddha sat beneath a tree engrossed in meditation, Mucalinda came up from the roots of the tree to shield the Buddha from a tempest that was just beginning to arise. A favorite motif of Angkorean sculptors from approximately the 12th century CE onward was that of the Buddha, sitting in the position of meditation, his weight supported by the coils of a multi-headed nāga that also uses its flared hood to shield him from above. Thus, they are natural guardians of treasures or sacred sites which cannot easily be moved out of harm's way.Īt Angkor in Cambodia, numerous stone sculptures present hooded multi-headed nāgas as guardians of temples or other premises. This connection may be grounded in the observation that when threatened, some snakes (such as rattlesnakes or cobras) frequently hold and defend their ground, first resorting to threatening display and then fighting, rather than retreat. Serpents are represented as potent guardians of temples and other sacred spaces. Meditating Buddha being shielded by the naga Mucalinda. In Hinduism, Kundalini is a coiled serpent. According to some interpretations of the Midrash, the serpent represents sexual passion. In some Abrahamic traditions, the serpent represents sexual desire. The ouroboros is a symbol of eternity and continual renewal of life. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. In regards to the latter, it blocks rivers and other water sources in exchange for human sacrifices and/or material good offerings. In this Paleolithic "ophidian" myth, snakes are connected to rains and storms, and even to water sources. Using phylogenetical and statistical methods on related motifs from folklore and myth, French comparativist Julien d'Huy managed to reconstruct a possible archaic narrative about the serpent. įurthermore, the psychoanalyst Joseph Lewis Henderson and the ethnologist Maude Oakes have argued that the serpent is a symbol of initiation and rebirth precisely because it is a symbol of death. Isbell argues that for millions of years snakes were the only significant predators of primates, and that this explains why fear of snakes is one of the most common phobias worldwide and why the symbol of the serpent is so prevalent in world mythology the serpent is an innate image of danger and death. The anthropologist Lynne Isbell has argued that, as primates, the serpent as a symbol of death is built into our unconscious minds because of our evolutionary history. The Great Goddess often had snakes as her familiars-sometimes twining around her sacred staff, as in ancient Crete-and they were worshiped as guardians of her mysteries of birth and regeneration. "The snake dance is a prayer to the spirits of the clouds, the thunder and the lightning, that the rain may fall on the growing crops." To the Hopi, snakes symbolized the umbilical cord, joining all humans to Mother Earth. During the dance, live snakes were handled, and at the end of the dance the snakes were released into the fields to guarantee good crops. For example, the Hopi people of North America performed an annual snake dance to celebrate the union of Snake Youth (a Sky spirit) and Snake Girl (an Underworld spirit) and to renew the fertility of Nature. In some cultures, snakes were fertility symbols. Snakes have been associated with some of the oldest rituals known to mankind and represent dual expression of good and evil. The word is derived from Latin serpens, a crawling animal or snake. The serpent, or snake, is one of the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols. It takes all of the brain work out of drilling shelf pin holes and it makes it super fast and easy. Looking good! Now for the shelf pin holes! You can use the Brad Nailer or a hammer and finish nails for this part too but it’s best to use staples when attaching 1/4″ material because it grabs the material for a better bond. Then, attach the 1/4″ plywood backing to the locker. Now, flip the locker over and apply wood glue to the back of the back braces. Measure and cut the bottom and top face frame pieces. This is a shot of the locker with the side pieces of the face frame attached. If you don’t have one, you can use finish nails and a hammer. Then, attach the face frame pieces with finish nails. Apply a thin line of wood glue the front edges of the side pieces (make sure that you don’t use too much glue here). Measure and cut the pieces for the face frame. Here is a back view of the locker with the back braces attached. Now, measure the space from the top brace to the bottom brace.Ĭut the side braces then attach them with pocket hole screws and wood glue. You will attach these pieces with pocket hole screws and wood glue, as well. Make sure to measure the space before you cut. Here is the locker frame with the sides and bottoms attached. Notice the spacing of the bottom piece (refer to the plans). Next, I attached the side pieces of the locker to the top and bottom pieces with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws and wood glue.
